Position Summary: Food Service Manager

The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing and supervising the daily operations of the school cafeteria. This position organizes and directs the processes necessary to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks for Summit Christian Academy (SCA) at 200 E. Broadway and for Summit Early Learning Center (SELC). The Food Service Manager ensures meals are nutritious, high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Hours are Monday – Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Pay rate will be commensurate with education and experience.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals that meet established nutritional and safety guidelines.
  • Oversee kitchen staff, volunteers, and assistants to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Maintain inventory, order food and supplies, and track usage to stay within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with Tulsa County Health Department requirements and all relevant food safety regulations.
  • Train and supervise staff in proper food handling, sanitation, and customer service practices.
  • Maintain accurate records including menus, production sheets, and food safety documentation.
  • Communicate with school administration regarding menu planning, special dietary needs, and program improvements.
  • Foster a welcoming cafeteria environment that reflects the school’s values and culture.
  • Follow chain of command with any issues or concerns.

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in food service management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Basic knowledge of quantity food preparation, customer service, and computer skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, staff scheduling, and kitchen operations efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive, Christ-centered environment.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Must be certified (or willing to meet certification requirements) in an approved food safety course necessary to meet Tulsa County Health Department requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
